Developing a Philosophy of Mainstreaming:

If you don't stand up for something, you'll fall for almost anything.

As a professional, it is critically important to develop, maintain and nurture a philosophy related to your responsibilities to and for children. Absent a solid and grounded philosophy, you will be unable to make consistent, child-oriented decisions related to the services you deliver.

This seminar will present several important issues in the educational field (e.g., work ethic, fairness, etc.) in order to assist the participants in clarifying and solidifying their personal philosophies and belief systems.

Objectives:

  • The learner will understand the importance of developing and nurturing a personal educational belief system
  • The learner will be exposed to several controversial educational issues (e.g., use of punishment, inclusion, classroom competition)
  • The learner will understand the effective use of compensatory and remedial educational formats
